FAQs:

1.)

Q: Why are the values returned from the basic wind speed map shifted to the right?

A: Your computer has been set to use large fonts.  To fix the problem, reset the computer to use small fonts.

2.)

Q: Does Wind Loads on Structures 2002 perform Shear and Overturning Moment calculations based on the wind load values it calculates?

A: No.  These values are a secondary calculation which is beyond the scope of both ASCE 7-98 and ASCE 7-02 Section 6.

3.)

Q: What are the numbers that appear in the z column of the MWFRS output tables and the C&C output tables?

A: For windward walls the column represents z (vertical distance up the wall).  For side and leeward walls, roofs perpendicular to the ridge and most components and cladding, the column represents h (mean roof height).  For roofs parallel to the ridge or a sloped roof less than 10°,  this column represents the horizontal distance from the windward edge.

4.)

Q: Why does the program lock the roof shape to monoslope when I am designing an open structure?

A: ASCE 7 1998 and 2002 only support open building designs with monoslope roofs.  Since the wind load provision does not allow it, our program locks out other roof shapes when designing an open structure.

5.)

Q: Why does the program report that all user licenses are in use when no one is using the program?

A: The last user was not logged out of the program correctly.  This is usually due to the computer crashing while the program is running.  To clear the user log, go to WLS2002NWMgr.exe and click on "Log Off All Users".  More information can be found in the Installation Manual.

6.)

Q: Can I transfer the results to an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet?

A: Yes.  When you right click anywhere on the results window a "copy to clipboard" box will appear.  Highlight and left-click this statement.  Open Excel and paste.

7.)

Q: I have the Network version and I'm getting an error that says the TABCTL32.OCX is missing.

A: The Client install has not been performed.

Client Installation Steps:

  1. Using the Client computer, go to the appropriate directory on the Server.

  2. Locate and double click the "Setup.exe" file in this directory.  (This is NOT the same "Setup.exe" on the original CD.)

  3. Follow the Installation instructions.

  4. Reboot if required.

If you are trying to access the License Manager from the server and receive this message it is because the Client Install has not been performed on the server.  Generally this is not recommended because the install may require a restart and rebooting the server may not be desired.
